Synopsis
Act 1
The charming sorceress Alcina takes pleasure in luring wandering heroes and fortune seekers to her enchanted island, and her governor, Melisso, on Alcina's island. Bradamante is disguised as her brother, Ricciardo. The newcomers are met by Alcina's sister, Morganna, who falls in love with "Ricciardo" at first sight (aria O s' apre al riso <面露笑容>).
Morgana takes both visitors to Alcina's palace; a party is in full swing, and some of Alcina's captives have been allowed to participate. The visitors meet Alcina and Ruggiero, who is fully under the spell of Alcina (aria Di, cor mio<愛人啊>). Ruggiero lives as if in a gilded cage, and has no memory of Bradamante.
Also on the island is the boy Oberto, who is searching for his father, Astolfo (aria Chi m'insegna il caro padre <誰來告訴我父親在那裏>).
Morgana's lover, Oronte, is annoyed at Morgana's interest in "Ricciardo". He challenges "Ricciardo" to a duel, but Bradamante manages to aviod the fight (aria E gelosia<這就是嫉妒>). Ruggiero and Oronte contemplate love, faithfulness and constancy. Ruggiero, provoked by Oronte, is jealous of the newcomer. At the end of the act, Alcina sings the (aria Tornami a vagheggiar <回到我身邊>).

魯吉耶羅的達曼特假扮成自己兄弟利徹亞度和她的管家米利索法趕來魔法島營救魯吉耶羅，兩人遇上阿爾辛娜的姐妹莫格娜，莫格娜對「利徹亞度」一見鐘情 (莫格娜唱出詠嘆調 O s' apre al riso <面露笑容>) 。
莫格娜帶走著布拉達曼特和米利見阿爾辛娜，又見到中了麼法的魯吉耶羅，(阿爾辛娜唱詠嘆調 Di, cor mio <愛人啊)。
aria : E gelosia<這就是嫉妒>
莫格娜的戀人奧朗特眼見戀人對「利徹亞度」有興趣，深感不悅，挑戰「利徹亞度」決鬥，但布拉達曼特平息糾紛 (唱詠嘆調 E gelosia<這就是嫉妒>) 。
奧朗特煽風點火，令魯吉耶羅吃「利徹亞度」的醋。(第一幕結束前唱出詠嘆調 E gelosia <回到我身邊>)。
Act 2
Ruggiero is wandering through Alcina's enchanted gardens when he meets Melisso, who resembles Ruggiero's old tutor Atlante. Melisso manages to show Alcina's captive the oddities of the island. Bradamante, hurrying to meet Ruggiero, seems to him just another oddity, and he sees her consciously for the first time.
Following Melisso's instructions, Ruggiero is granted permssion from Alcina to go hunting.
Oberto appears again and inquires after his father. Alcina assures the that he will see him soon.
Oronte brings new that Ruggiero has fled. Alcina reveals her true sorrow over Ruggero's betrayal (aria Ah! Mio caro <啊我的心哪>);it is the first time in her life that she has been abandoned and the first time she has wept.
Bradamante and Ruggiero decide to fight Alcina. By revealing Bradamante and Ruggiero's planned flight, Oronte warns Morgana, who then tries to warn her sister. In the meantime, Ruggiero bids farewell to the island, whose oddities still lingr in his mind (aria Verdi prati <青青的牧場>).
In her subterranean cavern, Alcina calls on her subordinates to prevent Ruggiero's flight, but, for the first time, they refuse to obey her. Increasing sorrow is heard in the laments of the once-mightly sorceress (aria Ombre pallide <青白色的亡魂>). In her sleep, Allcina has dreams, both bad and good, and her strength is renewed.

奧朗特向阿爾辛娜報告說魯吉耶羅逃跑了，阿爾辛娜生平第一次被拋棄，也是第一次哭泣，傷心欲絕(唱出詠嘆調 Ah! Mia caro <啊我的心哪>)。

這時，魯吉耶羅跟魔法島告別，盡管島上種種的光怪陸離的事情依然縈繞心頭 (唱出詠嘆調 aria Verdi prati <青青的牧場> )。
aria : Ombre pallide <青白色的亡魂>)阿爾辛娜在地下魔宮裏命令部下阻止魯吉耶羅逃走，豈料他們不肯聽從，過去法力高強，如今悲從中來，唱出哀歌(詠嘆調 Ombre pallide <青白色的亡魂>)。
Act 3
Oronte pretend to be indifferent to Morgana prompting her to confess her love for him. Alcina meet Ruggiero and, finding him adamant in his love for Bradamante, vows vengeance. Ruggiero will be forgiven if he returns to her (aria Mi restano le lagrime <當你被銷上腳鐐再回來時>).
Oronte reports to Alcina that her warriors have lost their magic powers. Alcina senses the inevitable loss of her powers and her realm (aria Mi restano le lagrime <我只剩下眼淚>).
Oberto appears on the scene. Alcina orders him to kill one of the creatures and gives him her sword. The boy recognises his father and threatens Alcina.
Alcina pleads with Ruggiero and Bradamante for mercy, but is denied (terzetto Non e amor <不是愛>). Ruggiero grants freedom only to Oronte. Alcina and Morgana continue to appeal for mercy, but Bradamante and Ruggiero are unrelenting. Ruggiero strips Alcina of her powers, and the transformed travellers
(Oberto's father among them) regain their speech and their true forms.

阿爾辛娜見到魯吉耶羅對布拉達特忠貞不逾，誓言報復，宣稱只要魯吉耶羅回到她身邊，就既往不究(唱出詠嘆調 Mi restano le lagrime <當你被銷上腳鐐再回來時>)。
